The Vision

Everything built needs a foundation.

Initial Motivations

The vast majority of my coding journey has been self-taught, self-motivated, self-funded. I encountered a number of hurdles and challenges that made this path more difficult to walk than it needed to be and I see opportunity for the creation of a better structured springboard for those entering the development space.

I found, specifically, that while there existed a dizzying amount of resources available from which to learn, roadblocks are hit. In the early days of taking those first wobbly steps into coding, it's easy to become completely paralyzed by simple problems - and it's difficult to find anyone invested enough in your problem to help.

This isn't to say there aren't supportive avenues available, but there exist hundreds of Discords, with thousands of members all focused on their own project. There's only so much one can expect in terms of eyes on your particular problem.

I wanted to create a community focused on mutual progress through shared journeys. A place to find people working through the same problems you are, a place where it is mutually beneficial for people to be engaged with their peers and share their struggles and successes.

The Goal

To the ends outlined above, I endeavour to create a space in which members can easily network within the community to encourage learning and collaboration. The approach will focus on these areas:

• Community Outreach:

  • Our growth so far has been organic (and a product of me spamming everyone on Twitter), I would like to ramp this up. Let people know what we offer and how we can help them take those steps.

  • Avenues to accomplish this include:

    • leveraging existing Web3 communities members are involved in, offering 'Intro to Web3' collaborations with these communities will be a great way to onboard curious people

    • starting dialogues with other developer communities and content creators, illustrating the value of our community adding structure to decentralized learning

• Membership Engagement:

  • Diving in and being immersed in the Web3 space is the best way for a beginner to familiarize themselves with the ecosystem and grow their curiosity. We want to foster a community which encourages and incentivizes engagement and participation.

    • Avenues to accomplish:

      • Creation of a space to compile upcoming hack-a-thon events, promotion of member participation and performance through community networks

      • The establishment of the FroggyDAO (see FroggyDAO for details)

      • Events such as code along nights, code-jams and community lead outreach campaigns. Participation in the aforementioned will be rewarded with Soulbound Token Accolades and experience (see POND Soulbound Token for more details)

      • -stretch goal- The creation of a mentorship program.

  • Membership Project Support:

    • This is the end goal. In the beginning our influence will be small, and our ability to support will come from community assistance during development, networking opportunities to find collaboration partners and the broadcasting of member creations through various communities and social channels.

    • Through the establishment of the FroggyDAO and community driven fund raising efforts support for Membership projects will evolve into a financial one. Through the submission of project proposals and DAO consideration, I see a clear avenue through which the distribution of grants and bursaries may be awarded.

    • The membership web-portal will be designed to be modular in nature, and intends to include areas to showcase member projects in various stages of development, and highlight deployed/completed projects with direct implementation of many of the member-created tools into the portal itself. Through these focuses, I believe a community can be established to facilitate the on-boarding of curious minds and support their journey in self-learning in a productive and meaningful way.
